Post Title:Learning and Teaching Technologist
SBU/Department: Hertfordshire Business School
FTE: 1.0fte (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH7 £37,099 pa to £44,263 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: de Havilland Campus
Hertfordshire Business School (HBS) is seeking a highly motivated and effective individual to join the Centre for Academic Skills Enhancement team. You will play an essential role in working collaboratively with academic staff and students, to support student learning through learning design and the use of technology for teaching, Learning and assessment.
Main duties and responsibilities
Staff development in using technology is regarded as critical to the provision of a flexible, responsive portfolio of curriculum design. You will support academics by gathering and disseminating information on best practice within the field of education technology and guidance regarding the suitability of differing technologies/ software for teaching, Learning and assessment.
You will be expected to provide students with skills development and support through workshops, team teaching and on a one-to-one basis. This includes guiding them on appropriate technologies for Learning and industry software to enhance employability. You will also be expected to contribute to student resources through the development of academic and technology skills on the Centre for Academic Skills Enhancement website.
Skill and experience required
It is essential that applicants have experience of and motivation for teaching or training and be able to maintain and develop knowledge and skills needed for this role. You will have personal experience in Business/Technology support as well as the ability to communicate accurately and fluently and influence key stakeholders.
Your application will evidence that you keep abreast of new technologies for classroom use and that you have the ability to lead, manage and co-ordinate teams. This role requires you to demonstrate a proactive attitude to identify and meet the needs of both staff and students. In addition, you will require excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications required
You must hold a minimum of an Honours Degree, or equivalent level 6 qualification, in a relevant subject area or discipline area and/or relevant significant level industry experience.
