Job description

Do you love the outdoors? Are you committed to supporting children and enjoy a varied approach to learning? Are confident with horses and animals?

If so, you could be our new Learning Mentor at Stable Futures. We are looking for passionate individuals who aren’t afraid to spend time outdoors and enjoy getting stuck in! The position is full-time, and the salary is £20,000 per annum. This role is also term-time only (although there would be an expectation to work 10 inset days per year).

About us

Amegreen Children’s Services is an established and respected provider of residential children’s homes having been established in 2014. Our independent children’s homes are rated as Outstanding by Ofsted and provide therapeutic care to children between the ages of 5 and 18 who are unable to live with their families.

Stable Futures is a warm and friendly environment that provides outdoor learning experiences for children who cannot access a classroom experience for a variety of reasons. We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Mentor to join us at our outdoor learning farm, and we are hoping this person could be you! This is a unique opportunity (with most of your role being outdoors) and located in a rural setting near West Berkshire.

What will you be doing?

You will play a crucial role in supporting children with functional skills, independence skills, outdoor learning, animal care, cookery, arts and crafts and farm work, to support their transition back into full time education. Amegreen offer fantastic training and support for all colleagues as well as the below.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills – this is integral to ensure that reporting and recording are timely and accurate to be compliant within safeguarding and Ofsted standards.
  • An understanding of educational strategies and raising standards of achievement
  • Understanding of appropriate strategies for managing children’s behaviour
  • Be able to prepare lesson planning and delivered tailored sessions for learners using creative ways to learn.
  • Ability to develop good links between parents and professional partners.
  • Provide a therapeutic environment for the young people but hold firm boundaries.
  • Able to facilitate a range of indoor and outdoor learning activities that motivates children.
