Lecturer in Counselling Psychology

The Lecturer in Counselling Psychology (T&S) post provides an ideal position for an academic, or suitably qualified practitioner, who is fully committed to students and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to MIE’s Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology programme, taking ownership of taught academic units as a major component of their workload.

As a Lecturer, your main duties will be:

• To design and deliver high-quality research- and scholarship-led teaching;
• To design and deliver classes in a range of formats, which may include lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops, and to use online virtual learning environments for teaching and assessment as necessary;
• To challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and thinking;
• To be involved as required in the supervision, evaluation and examination of a small number of PGR students;
• To set and mark student assessments as appropriate, and to provide appropriate feedback to students in a timely and clear manner;
• To contribute to recruitment activities as required;
• To contribute to the general management and administration of the programme to which you are attached;
• To work as an effective member of MIE, and engage in a collegial manner with both academic and professional support staff;
• To make appropriate and creative use of UoM IT systems, including Blackboard and Turnitin;
• To meet deadlines agreed with Programme Directors, course unit leaders, MIE’s Directors of Teaching and Learning Operations, and the Head of Department;
• To undertake any other duties commensurate with your grade, as may reasonably be required of you.
