Job description

Location: Brighton - Moulsecoomb We have an excellent opportunity to play an important and active role in our Journalism Lecturing team, where you will contribute to teaching and research as a lecturer across our four journalism courses – BA (Hons) Journalism, BA (Hons) Sport Journalism, MA Journalism, and MA Sport Journalism in the media subject area of the School of Art and Media, working with colleagues to realise a collective vision that will take the courses forward. To be effective in this role you will need: A (1st or 2:1) degree or equivalent qualification. Recent and substantive industry experience of core news reporting and production practices in multimedia and multi-platform settings. Expertise in how digital and social media is used in Journalism practice. Commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion in both higher education and journalism environment. Up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject including current professional/vocational developments and the range of generic skills required. Strong research and scholarly track record or a clear sense of career trajectory in this direction. Teaching experience in Journalism at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and a professional qualification in Journalism awarded by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) would be desirable. A high level knowledge of the technical aspects of journalism including TV and radio studio production, audio-visual editing, content management systems, and page design software is also an advantage.
