Job description

Full or part time application considered.  The School of Law at Oxford Brookes University provides an intellectually stimulating, friendly and supportive environment in which to work and study. As part of its development strategy, the School of Law is seeking to appoint a Lecturer(s), to further support its teaching, research and knowledge exchange strategies.  We are seeking candidates who will contribute to our research culture, enhance our student experience and employability strategy, and contribute to teaching particular courses. Successful candidates will have a record of teaching (or evidence of an ability to teach) students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in several current areas of need, such as (but not limited to) Contract, Tort, Land, Equity, Skills/advocacy, English Legal System, Commercial and Company Law. Candidates for the Lecturer roles in the School of Law should have PhDs that are completed or nearing submission, or equivalent experience; a demonstrable record of administrative, research, and teaching activity appropriate to career stage that accords with the current needs of the School of Law; and have a developing record of high-quality research outputs and/or knowledge exchange or professional activity. Interviews are planned for the 25th and 26th April 2023. They will be in person, but can be online if needed. If you would like to discuss any of these roles, please contact Chara Bakalis, Deputy Head (Strategy and Development), School of Law and Social Sciences - cbakalis@brookes.ac.uk. As one of the largest employers in Oxford we pride ourselves in the great experience we offer our staff. You’ll be joining a friendly, professional environment where every member of staff is recognised as important to the success of Oxford Brookes University. To find out more about the benefits of working for Oxford Brookes please visit: www.brookes.ac.uk/job-vacancies/working-at-brookes.  At Oxford Brookes, inclusivity is one of our five guiding principles: we take positive steps to make an environment in which we celebrate, value and provide equal opportunity to all. We are committed to recruiting within the widest possible pool and welcome applications of all suitably qualified candidates who embrace our values, regardless of their background. As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview any disabled applicant who meets the essential selection criteria. Please note that from 4th April 2024 the Lecturer level role may not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the points-based immigration system due to the increase in minimum salary requirement. However, applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.
