HMP Dartmoor is a Category C men’s prison which is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and operated by His Majesty’s Prison Service. As well as offering essential skills such as Maths and English, the prison also offers courses in Bricklaying, Plastering, Painting & Decorating, Art, and Foundation Cookery. We emphasise rehabilitation through various offending behaviour programmes and offer a unique, dynamic, and rewarding environment for individuals to work and make a difference to the lives of others.
We’re now seeking a Lecturer to deliver high-quality Skills for Life courses.
Developing a positive learner experience on all courses, you’ll complete all relevant administration work relating to your sessions, such as lesson planning, registers, learner enrolment and marking. You’ll enrich learning through additional projects and actively market and promote Prison Education and recruit learners to courses.
About you
- Hold a degree or relevant professional qualification, which is appropriate to the role.
- Have previous teaching experience.
- Have knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.
- Have excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be computer literate, including an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Be highly motivated and set high standards for self and others.
- Be experienced in providing extra support to learners with LDD needs (desirable).
We’d also like you to possess a recognised teaching qualification or be prepared to achieve one (with the assistance of Weston College) within the first two years of employment.
