ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About the Role:

We’re looking to appoint a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Strategy on a fixed term 12-month contract, to join the Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Tourism subject group within the School. The successful candidate would contribute to the teaching and research activity of the group, including on our recently launched MBA Entrepreneurship and BSc Business with Entrepreneurship courses, as well as other business courses in the School of Management. We are committed to an active, collaborative learning pedagogy across our face to face, blended, and distance learning courses and we welcome applicants with experience in, and enthusiasm, for innovative teaching and learning approaches. One of ARU’s priority research areas is in ‘Entrepreneurship and Applied Innovation’, and the IMPact Research Centre situated within the School of Management brings together colleagues working on a range of projects on the potential benefits and challenges of digitalisation and the role of innovation in ensuring the future prosperity, sustainability and wellbeing of the UK and global economy.

One of ARU’s priority research areas is in ‘Entrepreneurship and Applied Innovation’, and the IMPact Research Centre is situated within the School of Management. IMPact has a strong track-record of pure and applied research on innovation and management practices, with a particular focus on the challenges of digitalisation and ICT. We would particularly welcome applicants with a research interest in the challenges of digitalisation for SMEs, and with understanding of the role of innovation in ensuring the future prosperity, sustainability and wellbeing of the UK and global economy.  The Faculty also has a strong focus on social justice, and ‘doing well by doing good’, and applicants are encouraged to consider how their research would contribute to that profile.

You’ll have a degree plus PhD or Professional Doctorate (For Lecturer grade 5: Degree plus PhD or nearing completion with the first 18 months of employment), as well as successful teaching experience at HE level in a relevant subject area.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. You will be able to think innovatively, and will show a willingness to develop personal research. With an enthusiastic and flexible approach, you will have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as showing a commitment to contributing to the collective life of the faculty.

Informal enquiries can be made to Christopher Kerry, Deputy Head of School (Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Tourism) via email at christopher.kerry@aru.ac.uk.
