Job description

The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Languageand Literacy Education (Research and Teaching Track) within the School of Social & Environmental Sustainability. This position is based on our Dumfries Campus. The successful candidate will develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international standard and to contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by designing and delivering teaching content across a range of modules as part of the School of Social and Environmental Sustainability’s new Masters of Language and Literacy Education. Modules will have a specific focus on literacy acquisition, science of reading and/or cognitive development. Depending on experience and expertise, the successful candidate will also contribute to other areas of the core curriculum across our portfolio of undergraduate, and postgraduate courses and programmes for those entering the primary and secondary teaching professions. For appointment at Grade 9, the successful candidate will make a substantial contribution will be made to the strategic direction of the School/College through actively engaging in relationships with external stakeholders that advance knowledge exchange, public understanding and outreach and providing academic leadership and management within the School/College. Primary or secondary teaching experience is highly desirable, however not essential for the post. This is a full time (35 hrs per week) and open ended.
