Job description
Would you like to join one of the best run pre-sessional English programmes in the UK? We encourage both new and returning tutors to join us this summer teaching mainly pre-master’s students, in a range of disciplines, while they prepare academic English language and literacy skills needed for study at the University. Our programmes include a week long paid induction which will prepare you to deliver our EAP courses. All our Pre-sessional programmes are accredited by BALEAP and the British Council. Our main courses were commended by BALEAP for their excellent organisation and tutor support and our online provision as ‘sector leading’. We are planning to offer face-face (F2F) and online (OL) programmes. The F2F posts are based in Sheffield. You will join a supportive team focussed on preparing students for their University studies. The programme is designed to give students practice in the activities they will undertake at University and they are assessed on their performance on the programme. We employ innovative technological approaches to support learning and teaching. A range of dates are available. Please see the About the Job document for details. Please indicate your earliest and latest availability in your application statement. To access any online lessons & course content, you will require a desktop or laptop computer with a webcam and microphone, and a reliable broadband internet connection. You will need a suitable space to work for any online teaching components. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. As we need our teachers throughout the programme, holidays are paid at the end of the contract. For teachers from outside the area working on the PS10 and PS06 face to face courses we can offer free self-catering University accommodation. We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience. Apply now by clicking on the Apply button located near the top of your screen.
