Role: Legal Counsel - EMEA

Location: Office based or Remote in United Kingdom, Spain or Czech Republic

The role will be focused on providing legal contractual support for deals in the EMEA Region across all legal disciplines. You will also be called upon to provide support on a variety of aspects covering legal operations and governance. The legal work is challenging, varied, and constantly evolving.

Many of our projects are complex in nature and you will be required to work with other disciplines to create effective solutions.

Having legal expertise in supporting the EMEA region is key to this role.

Key responsibilities

* Provide accurate and timely legal support to the project teams, contributing to tender submissions and negotiation with clients and suppliers.
* Draft and negotiate NDAs and wide range of commercial agreements including consultancy, collaboration, teaming, IP licensing.
* Report on contract risk and create associations of trust with key stakeholders.
* Negotiate settlement terms and support on adversarial matters dealing with external lawyers if appropriate.
* Support Group compliance programmes.

Key competencies and experience

* Qualified lawyer.
* Relevant legal experience post qualification.
* Spoken and written English is essential.
* Experience drafting and negotiating wide range of commercial agreements, preferably in the services sector.
* Experience working on multiple projects and priorities, stakeholders and tight deadlines.
* Ability to work with others and independently.
* A keen interest in creative legal problem solving, including researching novel and ambiguous areas of law.
* Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to match your tone to your audience.
* Ability to use initiative and make independent judgements relating to commercial agreements.
* Must be comfortable taking responsibility for analysing and weighing competing factors and taking decisions based on that analysis.
* An appetite for dynamic work and enjoys operating in a collaborative team environment. Our team members regularly collaborate with each other and with internal stakeholders, effectively guiding business strategies and communicating legal risk.
* A willingness to work in a spirit of partnership and be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the Legal team and the Company.
* Resilient and positive through change.

Desirable

* Experience in the Rail and Energy sectors and public procurement.
* A mixture of law firm and in-house experience.
* Regulatory, employment, litigation and/or IP law experience, whether in-house or in private practice.
* Legal transformation experience.
* Experience of and/or curiosity about working with Legal Tech.
* Language skills, proficiency in another European language (other than English) or Arabic.
