Our client based in Leicester provides accommodation and support services for young people aged 16-25 who are in the care system or leaving care.
They are looking for a Support Worker to work directly with these young people to help them gain confidence and learn the skills needed for independent living.
Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with young people and engage with them in a positive, caring manner
- Assist young people with developing practical life skills such as household tasks, budgeting, and tenancy maintenance
- Provide emotional support and help build resilience and coping strategies
- Work in partnership with local authorities and other professionals involved in each young person's care
- Maintain detailed records on each young person's progress and participate in ongoing assessment of their needs
- Uphold principles of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism at all times
Requirements:
- Experience working with vulnerable young people in a care setting
- Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills
- Ability to act as a role model and mentor
- Organized, reliable and committed to young people's wellbeing
- Knowledge of social services and issues affecting young people leaving care
- Relevant qualifications in health, social care or youth work
- English speakers required
Must have
- Child Safeguarding Level 3 (we can arrange this on your behalf)
