Job description

Are you a dedicated and experienced Mentor with a passion for supporting students with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Perhaps you have experience of working as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary or Secondary setting? Are you trained in the use of tactics to best support students with their wellbeing and mental health in order to enhance their learning? If you're a skilled and passionate Education practitioner, Team Educate would love to hear from you!

Team Educate is proud to represent a Secondary School in the Coventry area who are actively recruiting committed and compassionate Teaching Assistants who have the skills, knowledge and confidence to facilitate Mental Health Interventions for pupils with Autism, Anxiety and/or Trauma-backgrounds, as well as support students within a classroom setting. This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday. Part-time hours would also be considered for the right candidate.

The role of Teaching Assistant will involve working with secondary aged pupils who have additional learning needs relating to their social, emotional and mental health, in addition to supporting pupils within their regular lessons and activities. The successful candidate will facilitate structured intervention for pupils centred on the topic of Mental Health, as well as the core skills in English and Maths. This will sometimes involve working alongside pupils in a mentoring capacity within a normal classroom context, and will require a dynamic, thoughtful mentor who is able top build strong relationships and build rapport with young learners. The majority of pupils you will be working with will have EHCPs.

The school is highly committed to supporting their pupils, and the staff share the same, committed ethos of supporting their learners' academic progress and wellbeing at all times. They are looking for equally committed mentors to join them in their journey.

Responsibilities of the successful Teaching Assistant:

- Provide support and assistance to individuals with special educational needs in order to promote academic and social development.

- Use your skillset to communicate with learners and support them in their studies to foster engagement in the classroom.

- Assist in the implementation of IEPs and EHCPs.

- Collaborate with specialist teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

- Provide assistance with emotional wellbeing and behavioural needs.

What you will need to succeed in this role:

- A Level 3 Qualification in a relevant area - ideally 'Supporting Teaching and Learning'

- Previous experience of working with children or young adults in an Education, or Mental Health/Well-being setting

- An Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or a willingness to process a new one.

- Experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs (SEN), specifically SEMH, ASC, ADHD or Attachment Disorder.

- Patience, empathy, and compassion, with a drive to support pupils' emotional and academic progress.

This is an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children who need support with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Submit your CV and we'll be sure to get in contact with you!
