We are looking for an Evening and Weekend Library Assistant to work in the historic King’s School Library in Canterbury.
You will undertake a range of library duties, including answering queries, issuing and returning items, monitoring pupil behaviour and taking steps to control any disturbances when necessary. You will also be responsible for first aid and fire safety. Additional tasks may include covering and labelling new stock, and shelving. Training will be provided. The role involves lifting, carrying books, and the library is up a flight of stone stairs.
The successful candidate will be confident in dealing with young people, managing to keep a calm and controlled environment, proficient in IT, and happy to work alone.
The role is term-time only. During the week there will be various shifts available: one or two evenings per week Monday to Friday 7-10pm. On weekends we are ideally looking for a Sunday shift 3-6pm.
