Libraries need a permanent, full time Neighbourhood Engagement and Delivery Officer (NEDO) – our library manager role – to work in the Central Library.
In Central Library we have a team of NEDOs who work together to manage the staff, the library building, and all the services delivered from there. Our NEDOs also develop and deliver activities and events, working with a range of agencies and partners such as schools and community groups. Our NEDOs work alongside the staff to deliver the front facing service in the library and to take on duty manager role on a rota basis.
Your main priority is to make a difference for our customers and we are looking for someone who demonstrates excellent customer service together with experience of ICT and digital delivery and who can manage staff so they also deliver this. In order to do this role you will need to have library experience.
You would work 5 days a week, usually on a 2 week rota. One of the two weeks will include a Saturday, and you will have a day off in the week in lieu of this. Both weeks include up to two shifts from 12.30 to 8pm between Monday and Thursday. We need our staff to be flexible and you would work across a number of areas in the library, and possibly in other parts of the city as the service requires.
We’re proud of our libraries in Manchester and of how they’ve changed – they are a place in the community or in the city centre where people can meet up, relax, use computers, read, find information and borrow books. We want people with fresh ideas, passion and potential.
