The role
As a Lifting Operations Appointed Person, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your role will include ensuring that lifting activities are planned, adequately supervised and conducted in a safe and compliant manner.


Day to day, you’ll develop Lift Plans, Method Statements and Risk Assessments and associated documentation to provide an effective SSoW is in place for lifting activities that fully comply with LOLER and BS7121.

  • Ensure the deployment of SQEP supervision for all lifts and that the supervisors are fully briefed on the task and contents, scope and limits of lifting method statements and risk assessments.
  • Support Lifting Operation Manager in achieving lifting related KPI’s across all operational areas through planning, supervision and safe execution of lifts.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to operational departments, contractors and project teams (including MoD projects) on the application of industry good practice of Lifting Operations.
  • Support all investigations, assessments and audits as required by the Infrastructure Compliance, Quality or SHEQS Departments.

This role is full time and will be based at Faslane and Coulport


Essential experience of the Lifting Operations Appointed Person:

  • Thorough knowledge of LOLER, BS7121 & other industry applicable regulations and practices.
  • Knowledge of and be able to write Risk Assessments
  • Health, Safety & Environment knowledge
  • CAD/Drawing applications proficiency
  • High degree of numeracy and literacy

Qualifications for the Lifting Operations Appointed Person:

  • Qualified accredited Appointed Person and/or qualifications and experience in associated disciplines.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
