The lighting and electrical design team are looking to appoint an Engineer with experience in the delivery of lighting and electrical design solutions for clients in both the public and private sector. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well directly with clients and the ability manage a small project team if required.
Limits of Authority:
- Project work will be approved by the design manager.
- Timesheets, expenses and training requests to be approved by line manager.
- Review designs undertaken by other teams members or 3rd party designers.
Relationships:
- Reporting to design manager.
- Working with design manager and other design team members or 3rd party designers;
- Working with members of staff within other parts of the business;
- Regular liaison with internal and external clients.
- Regular liaison with project managers on other projects as required.
Main Duties:
- Assisting design manager with the day-to-day management of ongoing projects.
- Design, management and delivery of lighting and electrical projects ensuring the delivery
of these projects to a high standard and to project deadlines. - Training and development of junior members of staff through project experience and on-the-job mentoring.
- Attending site and carrying out site surveys at various UK locations.
- Producing reports and meeting with clients as required by projects workload.
- Assisting in producing proposals and bids for other opportunities as required.
The candidate should possess the following experience and qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in exterior lighting and electrical services design.
- Minimum qualification, ONC Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Advanced user of proprietary lighting and electrical design packages (Autocad, Lighting Reality, Amtech, etc);
- Advanced user of MS Office suite;
- Recognised lighting qualification, ILP parts 1 to 3 working towards module 4.
- Local Authority or National Highway’s experience
- Sector scheme accreditation desirable.
- UK driving licence essential.
The candidate should possess the following skills:
- Track record of delivering design schemes from inception though to construction.
- Ability to produce project reports and technical documents.
- Ability to show initiative to work independently.
- Capability of working as part of team with the ability to manage junior members of staff.
