Locum Band 6 Physiotherapist - Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation
£28 per hour,
Full-time, shifts 08:30-16:30
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Locum Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our intermediate care rehabilitation team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality physiotherapy services to stroke patients and individuals with progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions. This locum position involves working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive rehabilitation interventions aimed at optimizing functional independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
· Conduct thorough assessments of stroke patients and individuals with neurological conditions, including comprehensive musculoskeletal, neurological, and functional assessments.
· Utilize standardized outcome measures and clinical observations to establish baseline function and formulate individualized treatment plans.
Goal-Setting and Treatment Planning:
· Collaborate with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to establish realistic goals and priorities for rehabilitation.
· Develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each patient, focusing on functional recovery and independence.
Neurological Rehabilitation Interventions:
· Provide specialized physiotherapy interventions for stroke patients and individuals with neurological conditions, including gait training, balance retraining, motor control exercises, and activities of daily living (ADL) training.
· Implement progressive and evidence-based techniques to facilitate neuroplasticity and optimize motor learning and recovery.
Strength and Conditioning Programs:
· Design and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs to improve muscle strength, endurance, and mobility, utilizing both manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise modalities.
· Monitor and progress exercise programs based on patient response and functional goals.
Patient and Family Education:
· Provide education and training to patients and their families regarding their condition, rehabilitation goals, and strategies for optimizing recovery and managing symptoms.
· Empower patients and caregivers to actively participate in the rehabilitation process and self-management strategies.
Discharge Planning and Transitional Care:
· Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe and timely discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate community support services.
· Liaise with community rehabilitation teams, social services, and other stakeholders to coordinate post-discharge care and support.
Clinical Documentation and Record Keeping:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, documenting assessments, interventions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
· Ensure clear and concise communication of patient progress and treatment plans within the multidisciplinary team.
Quality Improvement and Professional Development:
· Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects to enhance the quality and effectiveness of rehabilitation services.
· Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay abreast of current evidence, best practices, and advancements in Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy.
- Current registration with the relevant physiotherapy regulatory body.
- Significant experience working as a Physiotherapist in Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation, preferably in an intermediate care or rehabilitation setting.
- Advanced clinical skills in neurological assessment, treatment planning, and rehabilitation interventions.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care with compassion and empathy.
