The consultants clinically based at the Marie Curie Hospice are responsible for: Acting as medical director of the hospice The medical care of all inpatients Medical input to the day therapy unit and outpatient clinics Clinical admission policies in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team Contributing to and developing the existing clinical governance programme Liaison with hospital services and primary care teams as appropriate Supervision, training and appraisal of junior medical staff Arranging the on-call duties Input to educational activities Contributing to local and national strategic planning within Marie Curie Additional nonclinical responsibilities such as strategic planning, training of junior staff, acting as hospice Medical Director and clinical governance are divided by negotiation amongst the consultants. It is not anticipated that this postholder would be required to act as Medical Director during this contract.
