Summary of role

The efficient day-to-day operation of the Logistics Department, staff, contractors and visitors within these areas. Responsible for the safety of all personnel within these areas

Continually improve efficiencies within the logistics department. Ensure that the department has adequate resources for efficient operation and all resources are utilized effectively, whilst working to pre-set agreed budgets.

Main Duties

The chosen employee must co-operate with the company's Health & Safety policies to enable all statutory duties to be complied with. Everyone has a legal obligation to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for the safety of other people who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

1. As Nominated Transport manager you will be required to ensure Full legal compliance within the aspects of the sites two operators licences. (Aldershot, Gosport)
2. To drive an Interdependent Safety Culture and promote Health and Wellbeing.
3. Full responsibility for maintaining fleet replacement of both trucks and trailers, ensuring capex requirements are submitted on time and negotiate with suppliers to effectively place orders in time for replacement of expiring leases, ensuring best prices and service
4. Ensuring repair and maintenance contracts for the fleet are managed on a cost-effective basis always ensuring full legal compliance
5. Effective management of the fleet s tyres within the agreed contract with a national supplier (approx. 208 tyres)
6. Maintain accurate up to date records in line with legal requirements for the following areas. Driver CPC / refresher records, licence management, Tachograph records, drivers hours, calibration, driver defect recording system, working time directive, maintenance forward planning, MOT pass rates, condition, and roadworthiness of vehicles & prohibition history.
7. Ensure full use of FTA Vision and Licence bureau to maintain records and ensure driver and vehicle compliance updating the Master file as and when required, ensuring all vehicle accidents are fully reported and investigated and liaise with the insurance company where requires
8. To support the company commitment in the goal of providing complete customer satisfaction to agreed OTIF levels.
9. To provide accurate stock records at all times for all finished goods on site.
10. To supervise warehouse finished good stock check quarterly to ensure full compliance with SK policy
11. To be an accountable budget holder reporting on variances from budget and future expenditure requirements.
12. To Manage the transport operation at Gosport site, including arranging holiday cover for Driver and replacement vehicles when theirs is in workshops, routing of all their external work and Pricing for all Jobs out of area.
13. Provide guidance and support to all members of staff within areas of responsibility by keeping up to date accurate staff records in respect to disciplinary action, absence & misc. information.
14. To regularly monitor all working practices used within the Distribution departments and instigate changes as necessary to provide continual improvements and increased efficiencies.
15. Buying of bulk fuel and ensuring best pricing from multiple supplier s whist monitoring and maintaining sufficient fuel stocks for the operation
16. Good geographical knowledge of southern England and ability to route up to 16 vehicles per day with 140+ drops to ensure on time deliveries to exceed our customers expectations whilst maintaining the most cost-efficient routing and use of the fleet

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Previous experience within distribution management is essential. General basic knowledge of computers and good communication skills are required for this post.
• A national CPC licence holder is a requirement for this role.
• Good Geographical knowledge of Southern England
• Previous experience of managing a warehouse and transport fleet is essential.
