Loss Control Surveyor
- Undertake underwriting risk assessments for domestic, bespoke, farming and commercial customers
- Home based with remote working, providing technical insight to Underwriters from client visits
- Helping our customers manage their risk across the South East Region
About the role
Loss Control Surveyor is a senior technical leadership role within the growing Loss Control team at NFU Mutual.
You will undertake underwriting risk assessments for domestic, bespoke, farming and commercial customers as part of NFUM Loss Control Team. Once you have completed the risk assessment you will provide risk improvement reports and technical insight to Underwriting to help inform insurance decisions and effectively manage risk for the customer and reduce losses for both customers and the business.
You will maintain and develop own technical skills through the engagement with professional and industry bodies, publications, seminars etc.
This will in turn preserve high standards of advice and keep you up to date with changing guidance and technologies.
As part of the role you will maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as clients, underwriting, claims, Agents, and colleagues within our Risk Management Services team.
About you
You will have detailed technical knowledge of current risk management and loss prevention practices for a broad range of insurance risks as well as experience of surveying/consulting in commercial environments.
You will have the ability to interpret underwriting requirements to ensure that risk management decisions can be identified.
Other key skills required are as follows:
- Highly developed communication skills with customer and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Experience and knowledge gained from working in Underwriting, Claims, Surveying or Commercial Engineering (or similar).
