About the role
The Macmillan Horizon Centre opened in Brighton in November 2016 to provide support to people affected by cancer from across Sussex. As a dynamic, inspirational manager, you will play a key role in developing and delivering the services in the state-of-the-art Cancer Support Centre working with partners and volunteers to develop an integrated approach to the delivery of information and support.
Your experience in managing high quality cancer Information Services in a health or social care setting will enable the vision for the Support Centre to become a reality. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for the development, management and day to day running of the Information Services. Volunteers will be crucial to the success of the Macmillan Horizon Centre and experience of working with volunteers and ability and commitment to support, motivate and develop a team of volunteers is essential. You will be a key resource in ensuring patients, their family and friends have access to specialist information and advice as well as being the “go to” cancer expert for the volunteers and other staff of the Macmillan Horizon Centre.
As a job share you will be responsible for the delivery of the Macmillan Horizon Centre information service on the days you are working as well as leading on some specific areas of responsibility and pieces of work which will be assigned to one of the two postholders in the job share. You will need to liaise and work closely with the other postholder.
About you
To succeed in the role you will need to demonstrate your people management skills, an understanding of the needs of volunteers, experience of working collaboratively with different organisations and proven ability to work with and through others at different levels to achieve an outcome. Experience in evaluating services will be essential.
