Location: Gateshead
Salary: £54,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (Days and Nights)

Job Description: As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment within the production facility. This role is essential to maintaining the high standards of the manufacturing process and ensuring minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems.
• Ensure all machinery and equipment comply with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with the production team to identify and implement process improvements.
• Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment, Food is desirable but not essential.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including days and nights on a 4 on 4 off basis.
• Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ/BTEC/C&G Level 3, HNC/HND).
