The company's administrative and operational HQ is based in Luton with further sites in Milton Keynes and Wellingborough.
We are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join the twilight maintenance team and ensure the smooth operation of our Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) whilst the plant is not operational. Working hours are 4pm to 1am Monday to Friday.
This is a hands on role and you will be responsible for the planned and reactive mechanical maintenance of the MRF always adhering to strict and Health and Safety procedures. You will be part of a small team working on the Twilight Shift whose role is to complete essential and preventative maintenance whilst the plant is not running.
Key Responsibilities
- To carry out equipment breakdowns effectively and efficiently.
- To plan and carry out planned preventative Maintenance on all plant and equipment aiming to achieve maximum plant availability, with zero unplanned down time.
- Conduct safety compliance inspections and maintain records.
- Ensure that programmed work is completed on time to the satisfaction of business requirement.
- Working to health and safety, environmental other standards as they apply to the process.
- Maintaining standard operating procedures as required.
- Use radio frequency equipment as required.
- Develop/document training material to facilitate transfer of skills and knowledge.
- Effective and economical control of critical spares for all key processes.
- Experience of working with engineering drawings.
- Provide training, work direction and guidance.
- Adhere to safe working practice and procedures including and not limited to lockout, tag out and working at heights etc.
- Operate a variety of equipment including loaders, forklifts, high lifts, cranes, cherry pickers.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience as an engineer.
- A working knowledge of plant/machinery
- Relevant qualifications & experience in welding, mechanical and or electrical engineering (18th Edition of the Electricity at Work Regulations)
- Excellent working knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace and legal compliance associated with the maintenance and repair of fixed installations.
- Exceptional time management skills
- Good at information seeking and handling
- Problem solving and fault diagnosis
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize own workload.
- Excellent internal and external customer service and oral/written communication skills
- Computer literate, with experience using Microsoft products
- Full and current UK driving license
- Forklift license 3.5 ton counterbalance (desirable but not essential as full training will be given)

Salary is based on a 47.5 working hour week between PS16.35 to PS17.42 per hour. Annual salary - PS40,384.5 to PS43,027 depending on skills and experience..
