Manpower are proud to be working with our prestigious client ASTON MARTIN in their search for a MAINTENANCE LEAD TECHNICIAN

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To motivate and lead the team through effective communication, identifying and controlling clear roles and responsibilities for all team members, promoting a culture of self-discipline and control.
  • To co-ordinate and enable team activities engaged in the immediate area of responsibility, in accordance with laid down schedule requirements and all company standards/processes, (Quality, ISO 9000, Environmental, and H&S).
  • Ensure effective team working by efficient use of labour/resource.
  • To ensure that all record/legal requirements are maintained in accordance with area of responsibility.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enable team members sufficient time to complete work within their agreed area of responsibility (including updating visual management).
  • Ensure the team can function at all times in terms of appropriately skilled labour, standardised performance, consumable materials and effectively maintained equipment, to achieve production schedules.
  • Lead the shift team to improve the availability of equipment through reliability of equipment through effective management of all planned maintenance activities, driving critical spares requirements and stores management, inventory status and effective breakdown management.
  • Control and reduce all forms of waste using Kaizen, 5S, PPS and FTPM principles in order to meet departmental targets including cost, housekeeping, scrap reduction, off-std reduction, rework and ISO14001.
  • Assist Environmental department in waste management in relation to zero landfill and energy reduction themes.
  • Monitor, control and improve the quality level within the team, referring to Company and customer quality standards at all times.
  • Lead the team in the development of world-class performance in the establishment of housekeeping principals, 5S, compliance and adherence to safety/environmental regulations.
  • Enable the team to agree work standards with industrial engineers and implement man assignments/labour loading to achieve the required production and quality targets /standards. However lean principles should be used as a key driver in establishing standard processes, resource allocation and process/work area layout.
  • Enable the key team members to update and maintain all visual management boards including AMPS, Quality and team communication boards.
  • Promote the use of techniques for controlling and improving processes, e.g. Standard Operations, Kaizen, SPC, Variability reduction teams etc. to ensure efficient and standardised production operations.
  • Support Group Leaders in section Root Cause Analysis documentation with analysis for both MTBF & MTTR concerns.
  • Plan and control the re-allocation of labour when skill shortages occur due to absence, off-job training, job rotation, etc. Maintain accurate and relevant skill matrices, versatility matrices and operator training sign-off sheets for all training and development.
  • Building a culture within a team that does not knowingly ship a defect forward.


QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • The job requires team leadership and team development experience in the understanding of technician range of skills that are required within the area.
  • Coaching and mentoring experience to enable effective team morale and performance.
  • Able to identify team strengths and weaknesses and facilitate training needs.
  • Requires a degree of business acumen to enable team reporting systems and procedures to operate effectively.
  • Needs to have the ability to use diagnostic skill to determine faults and lead a team in the rectification of such faults.
  • The job holder will require to have or be willing to undertake training in Kaizen, Industrial Engineering, Quality and Process Management, Disciplinary procedure understanding as well as ISO 14001 appreciation.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, overtime, weekends to achieve production targets.
  • Successful candidates will be required to support/work in other areas as may be necessary.
