Our client are a Global Manufacturing company who are looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to join their Engineering department. This is a brand new role so an idea opportunity for someone to make this their own.
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for driving continuous improvement in machine availability and performance (OEE) by supporting the Engineering Manager through the effective scheduling and completion of PPM.
Job Dimensions & Scope
Principal Accountabilities
Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) - Actively support and align decisions and actions with OHSE requirements.
o Take an active role in the plant's safety programmes and goals
o Conducts risk assessments, identification of risk factors, risk assessment and identification of safety and health measures in the workplace
o Elaborates preventive and protective measures and control systems for the measures adopted
o Develops safety procedures for the various company activities
o Demonstrates meaningful involvement by integrating OHSE into day-to-day life.
o Actively participates in all OHSE training.
o Ensures compliance with best practice, legislative requirements, and all company's initiatives in relation to Health and Safety.
Housekeeping - Leading by example working to and within the Hygiene rules as expected by customers and defined by the company.
o Compliance with the 6S activities
o Promoting a clean as you go approach;
o Challenging non-conformance
Engineering - Supports the Engineering Manager in running an efficient and effective engineering department in order to ensure all assets perform in line with Operational requirements.
o Supervising and motivating the engineering team.
o Ensuring effective communications within the engineering team.
o Share purchasing responsibility for Engineering Department with the Engineering Manager
People Management - Supervising an effective engineering department
o Liaise with operational management and workforce regarding engineering maintenance requirements.
o Liaise with Contractors regarding engineering maintenance requirements.
o Support the training and development of new apprentices and subordinates and participate actively in personal training programmes as and when required.
Preventive maintenance
o Conduct preventive maintenance activities in a timely manner, as defined in the maintenance schedule, including:
- Maintaining machinery to OEM specification
- Identifying parts requiring further attention
- Recording work carried out
- Control maintenance tools, store and equipment
- Work within ATEX regulations
Reactive maintenance
o Use problem solving techniques to deal with breakdowns
o Electrical fault finding, testing and repairs
o Work within ATEX regulations
o Prioritise breakdowns
o Engineer out recurring issues
o Supervise contractors working on reactive maintenance
Site projects
o Support the Engineering Manager in projects to design, trial and implement improvements working within a defined budget
o Identify and support the implementation of Engineering solutions that minimise Waste and increase productivity.
Quality systems - Operate within/to prescribed quality standards and systems at all times as defined by the Company and customer requirements.
o Support the improvement of internal controls by participating in the development of SOPs, reference documents and forms.
o Participate in audits (internal or external).
Flexibility - Maintain a flexible approach to work.
Continuous improvement - Actively engage in Continuous Improvement, either within personal performance or participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives at the site.
Qualifications/Requirements
Formal Qualifications and Experience
- Management and leadership experience in a production environment;
- Team building skills;
- Effective communication skills;
- Positive attitude;
- 18th Edition wiring regulations
- Operate MEWP - preferred but not essential, training will be provided
- PASMA trained - preferred but not essential, training will be provided
- Working at height - preferred but not essential, training will be provided
Specific Skills and Abilities
Suitable qualification in engineering discipline.
Regulatory and legislative knowledge, including OHSE
Engineering knowledge of printing presses and slitting desirable but not essential)
Understanding of Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence tools and techniques.
Working knowledge of AC/DC motors and drives - Bosch Rexroth, Lenze, Eurotherm, etc
Working knowledge of PLC's - Siemens, Allen Bradley etc
Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
