Here at UPP we have an opportunity for a Multi Skilled Technician to work as part of our team at Reading University to undertake planned maintenance and reactive repairs, specialising in fabric and general building maintenance, plus maintaining accurate records for statutory compliance using UPP’s computer aided facilities management systems.
This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 10pm on a 9 week rolling rota which includes two weekends. The salary is £31,336 per annum.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver scheduled, reactive and remedial maintenance services ensuring that operational standards are always maintained, and in line with the Service Level Agreement.
- Carry out minor repairs to building fabric, installations and maintenance to building related equipment, including assisting with the repair and maintenance of building infrastructure repairs such as fire doors and general doors, flooring, painting & decorating and other building related infrastructure tasks.
- Work with the wider UPP on-site Team and liaise with specialist sub-contractors
- Carry out statutory testing, including but not limited to, PAT testing, fire alarm testing, fire door inspection and other duties as required to support the maintenance team
- Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residences ensuring all information is escalated.
We are looking for you to have worked in a similar role and environment with a NVQ in Building Fabric or maintenance related trade / City & Guilds qualification or equivalent or a time served apprenticeship and completion of ‘Underpinning Knowledge’. You will also have great communication and organisation skills, along with the passion to always do a great job.
In addition, you will have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to always work in a safe manner.
Please note, a current UK driving licence is also essential for this role.
You will also be prepared to be on an on-call rota and work (with notice) additional hours when the needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
