Job description

Are you ready to take on a new challenge of being a Major Incident Engineer (IT)?

You will be responsible for incident response, remedial activities and data analysis to restore client environments during Major Incidents. You'll play a crucial role in implementing mitigation steps to prevent reoccurrences.

Your responsibilities as a Major Incident Engineer will be:

  • Restore from backup and/or (re)configure and re-build networks and infrastructures affected by Major Incidents to restore services based on client priorities
  • Provide Major Incident response and recovery actions, both on client sites and remotely, to ensure proper assessment, containment, mitigation, restoration and documentation of affected networks, infrastructures, applications, and data
  • Lead, support and contribute to incident response investigations as required
  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide insight and guidance to colleagues and clients engaging in Major Incident process and procedures
  • Work with insurance providers, cyber specialists and third-party resolver groups as required
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the latest cyber threats, methods, tools, and trends
  • Create, as required, thorough and detailed reports and documentation of all incidents and procedures

About you

  • A deep understanding of incident response techniques, tools, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in pressured scenarios and prioritise key activities
  • Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Able to quickly assimilate and disseminate key information to expedite recovery activities
  • Must be action-oriented and have a proactive approach to solving issues
  • Thrive in an environment when required to work individually and as part of a team

It would be beneficial if you display significant experience and knowledge of the following technologies:

  • Windows Operating Systems
  • Hypervisor technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix)
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery (Veeam, VMware SRM, Zerto etc)
  • SAN technologies
  • Switching, routing, TCP/IP and VLAN’s
  • Firewalls
  • Anti-Virus Technologies
  • Multi-Factor Authentication

It would be advantageous if you had previous experience with:

  • Linux/Unix
  • Security tools such as NMAP, Nessus, Fire-Eye, Arctic Wolf
  • ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, Cyber Insurance
