Job description

Reed HR are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) expert with experience in developing and overseeing equality Impact Assessment processes and procedures. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting and advancing EDI initiatives within our client's organisation.

This position involves managing daily submissions of Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs), ensuring compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty, UK and delivering training on EIA to internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Equality Impact Assessments (EIA):

  • Lead the development and implementation of Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) across various projects, policies, and practices.
  • Ensure that EIAs are conducted in accordance with UK EDI legislation and that findings are used to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to integrate EIA recommendations into their activities.
  • Managing a small sub-team of two colleagues

EIA Training and Education:

  • Design and deliver training programmes and workshops on EIA, protected characteristics and changing legislations and social and political contexts.
  • Stay updated on changes in UK EDI legislation and best practices in the public sector and incorporate this knowledge into training materials.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and teams on EIA matters.
  • Continuously review and enhance EIA strategies, processes, and training materials to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor the impact of EIA initiatives and adjust processes as needed.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyse EIA-related data to identify trends, disparities, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and recommendations for senior management to support evidence-based decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with various departments, employee resource groups, and external partners to promote EIA initiatives.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees seeking guidance on EIA matters.
  • Work with stakeholders to establish EIA evaluation systems and procedures and monitor progress towards achieving EIA quality goals.

Compliance:

  • Ensure that the organisation complies with UK EDI legislation, including the Public Sector Equality Duty.
  • Stay informed on political and social changes and assess their impact on the organisation and EIAs.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of UK Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion legislation and the Public Sector Equality Duty.
  • Previous experience overseeing and developing Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) is recommended.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage effectively with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of best practices in EDI and experience in delivering training.
  • Analytical skills to interpret data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications in EDI or related fields are advantageous.
