Management Accountant - Permanent role
Career Teachers are seeking to appoint a committed and competent Management Accountant for an Outstanding Secondary School in the Outer London borough of Redbridge. You must have a good working knowledge of accounting principles, Schools /Funding arrangements is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
- Professional qualification in Accounting or working towards AAT - Essential
- Professional qualification in Accounting or working towards (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA) -Desirable
- GCSEs (C/6 or above in Maths English and IT) - Essential
- Level 3 Qualification or equivalent e.g. A - Levels (C or above) - Essential
- Good numeracy/literacy skills/IT skills - Essential
The new Management Accountant will join this established Finance team and help them deliver effective and efficient finance support to this Outstanding Secondary School in Redbridge. The post holder will play a key role, helping to provide information, reports and analysis and maintain systems and processes with the support of the Senior Finance Officers.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Prepare bank account and credit card reconciliations in Iris Financials
- Manage and administer Parent Pay portal, including all income streams reconciled to ledgers, including credit control functions across all schools.
- Support the month end process ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Processes include posting journals including accruals, prepayment, deferred income and reclassifications.
- Preparation of VAT 126 & 100 return submission for review
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations (prepayments, accruals, bank accounts, etc.)
- To support in the maintenance of financial records, reconciliations and general ledger entries.
- Prepare petty cash reconciliation.
- Preparation of monthly managements accounts.
- To provide support in coding invoices for nominal and accounts.
- Ensuring School trips are reconciled and closed.
- To assist tracking capital items to the balance sheet
- Maintaining spreadsheet records such as cashflow & fixed asset.
- Providing support during the annual budgeting process
- Assistance with year-end procedures and audit, including preparation of reconciliation schedules, compiling any audit evidence required and assisting with any other ad-hoc audit requests.
- Other ad-hoc duties to support the wider finance team.
Knowledge/ Skills and Experience:
Analytical skills and trouble-shooting abilities - Essential
- Good IT skills and proficient in the use of IT packages and finance software.
- Moderate user Excel skills.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards.
- A good understanding of the financial functions and duties of a school/academy.
- Experience of using, developing, and improving systems and procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills with ability to prioritise, multitask and manage a busy workload.
- Experience of using financial systems.
- Ability to work at speed and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Finance and accounting knowledge experience.
