Our customer requires an SC cleared Maritime Human Factors Integration Lead to support the Maritime Electronic Warfare Programme (MEWP). The initial contract is for 6 months with possibility of further extensions. This role is expected to work hybrid between Abbey Wood, Bristol and remotely. This role requires SC as a minimum and candidates must be UK nationals.
Contract runs for 110 days and rate is up to £485 per day
IR35 STATUS: The role has been confirmed as inside IR35 and candidates would need to operate via an umbrella company for this contract.
LOCATION: Hybrid working between Abbey Wood and home location with occasional site visits

ROLE OVERVIEW:
Royal Navy’s Maritime Electronic Warfare Programme (MEWP) will provide an enhanced defensive capability against anti-ship missiles.
Once operational, The Maritime Electronic Warfare Systems Integrated Capability (MEWSIC)will allow for increased detection and identification of radar signals over a greater range than currently possible. This will aid faster operational decision-making, enhanced situational awareness and improved ship protection.
- Lead system integration and installation activities, engaging with key stakeholders including the EWCM Supplier, Surface Ship Combat Systems Group (SSCSG) Integration Authority (IA), Platform Authorities and third-party suppliers of Combat System Equipment to facilitate the scoping, definition, development of proposals and agreement of activities and updates required to Shared Infrastructure (SI), Ships Services, Combat Management Systems and Ships Structure enabling integration/installation of MEWP capability iaw MCS ships process.
- Engage in Contractor Design and Development activities, manage Interface Control documentation, Service Definitions and Ships Combat System Integration issues to ensure compliance of suppliers with relevant Statements of Work(s).
- Promote Open systems standards and act as an active member of the MEWP Design Authority
- Assist with the production, acceptance, and resultant configuration control of an requirements acceptance procedure (Verification, Validation Requirements Matrix (VVRM) created by industry in accordance with an agreed Integrated Trials Evaluation & Acceptance Plan (ITEAP)
- Develop System Architectures, Requirement definition documents and generate technical specifications across MEWP programmes.
- Monitor, manage, and report technology and technical risk on the MEWP projects.
- Challenge technical assumptions to identify improvement opportunities
EW Technical Support - Assignments for SQEP EW Technical Support including:
- Develop MEWP system architecture
- Develop MEWP Integration Plan
- Monitor manage and report technology / technical risk and changes or developments in ships services, networks, systems and architecture for the MEWP projects
- Promote Open Systems and Standards
- Engage with MEWSIC Contractor, EWCM Contractor, SSCSG, NCSISS facilitating development of coherent architecture, ICDs, IFS, Service Definitions, DES and system of systems integration
- Support acceptance activities of supplier deliverables and evidence for compliance with Authority requirements
- Attend Integration/Installation WGs, wider project meetings and WGs as required
Maritime CombatSystems Engineers:
Witch’s Broom (WP1)
- Joint Services Support 2 (JSS2) TAF 188 – Delivery of Shared Infrastructure (SI) and Combat Management System (CMS) for T45 and QEC
- Lead the MEWSIC Combat Systems Integration tasks delivering the outputs of the TAF now on contract.
- Attend monthly progress meetings with the supplier as well as meetings with the MEWSIC Contractor and track actions to closure.
- Ensure the outputs of the TAF enable the MEWSIC System to function to it’s full capacity, if there are any deltas this is to be highlighted and a solution presented to work towards.
- Assist with scope change, this will involve reviewing assumptions, exclusions, and dependencies. To be on contract by 1 Sep 23.
- Require visits to Portsdown Technology Park (PTP) to liaise with the Integration Authority (IA) and Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Services (NCSISS) as well as visits to the T45 and QEC Ships.
Management of Project Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M) Programmes on behalf of the MEWP ILSM:
The assignee shall assume responsibilities for supporting the Contractor’s development of the AR&M document suite to reach a suitable state for acceptance that the Authority’s R&M requirements will be met, with a progressively delivered and assured body of evidence to substantiate all AR&M claims,
Electronic Warfare Operational Support
Document deliveries reviewed and commented on to enable acceptance of Obsolescence Management Plan, Integrated Support Plan, Security Management Plan, Exit Management Plan, Disposal Plan, PSEC and S&EP, SECR and Hazard Log along with others.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of Systems Engineering in the context of electronic warfare, such as weapons systems, radar systems, Combat Systems, software integration, communication systems and counter measures.
- Experience in managing complex interdependencies with multiple other programmes.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
- Demonstrate creative and innovative thinking to find solutions to technical challenges
