About Media Trust
At Media Trust, we believe it's by giving everyone a voice that we'll get to a more equal society. That's why we're working with hundreds of charities to strengthen their storytelling, advocacy and campaigning, press engagement and social media. We do this through media, communications and digital skills training delivered in partnership with our media and creative industry partners and by matching media industry volunteers with charities looking for help with content creation and other comms support. At the same time, we are working with hundreds of young people and talent from under-represented communities to give them the foundational skills, access and mentoring to break into the media.
About the Role
This is an exciting and wide-ranging role for an experienced strategic and creative Marketing and Communications professional. We are looking for someone who has expertise in devising and implementing integrated marketing, media, and Communications strategies for a diverse set of stakeholders. This role will suit someone with experience of successful B2B marketing, including pitching to corporate partners, creating high-converting campaigns for training and events, and developing a strong brand proposition.
As a small charity, we are looking for someone who excels at strategic and creative thinking while being committed to hands-on implementation. If you are passionate about storytelling and leveraging the power of the media to advocate and drive change, then this is the role for you.
Strategic communications & delivery
You will lead the development and delivery of creative, innovative and effective multi-platform marketing, engagement and profile-raising strategies for Media Trust and our programmes. This includes showcasing the uniqueness of our work, highlighting impact and success stories, and generating income through training, corporate partnerships and fundraising.
You will be experienced in crafting engaging Marketing and Communications for different stakeholder audiences (charities and community organisations, young people and media and creative industry organisations and volunteers). You will be responsible for developing our website, social media pages, annual report, impact reports, newsletters, corporate/promotional videos, event materials and other marketing collateral. Additionally, you will be skilled in testing different approaches to marketing, finding optimal practices and tools to drive traffic and engagement, and tracking/reporting on KPIs.
This is a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening the brand presence of Media Trust within the UK charity sector and media and creative industry. As an expert copywriter and editor, you will have the experience and skills to create sharp, succinct, and compelling copy that embodies a strong brand tone of voice, articulates key messages and our unique value proposition to connect and inspire people to get involved and support our work.
B2B Marketing
In this role, you will lead cross-team collaboration and oversee multi-channel marketing campaigns, maintaining brand consistency across all channels that contribute to the growth of each department, spanning Fundraising, Media Trust Films, Partnerships, Programmes, Training & Events and Volunteering. Leading the Marketing and Communications team, your focus will be on developing and implementing strategies that not only align with business objectives but build engagement, retention and attract new audiences. Your responsibilities will extend to crafting well-thought-out, impactful pre and post-event campaigns aimed at driving income through paid for training and events and conversions towards pipeline goals for partnerships and fundraising. Taking charge of the planning, production, and execution of marketing collateral for Media Trust pitches and events, you will ensure a cohesive brand presence and raise the profile of our work within the media and creative industry.
Media engagement
With expertise in generating news angles and pitching stories, you will secure PR and media coverage, showcasing our partnerships, programmes and impact. Collaborating across fundraising, partnerships and programmes, you will drive coverage for key events, launches and our 30th-anniversary campaign, aligning PR strategy with strategic and income objectives.
Digital Communications
You will work with the team to create and curate compelling content to strengthen our digital presence and grow and engage our audiences. You will drive the implementation of digital campaigns across online channels such as social media, email and web platforms, building a vibrant online community through engagement strategies with volunteers, charities, programme alumni and partners. With a keen eye for data analysis and optimisation, you will assess and improve our digital strategy and campaigns.
Team and Line management
You will provide line management for the Marcomms team (comprising a Marketing Manager and Communications Officer), supporting your team members to manage their workload, prioritise and schedule activities, undertaking appraisals, running regular team meetings and enabling the team to maximise their potential while nurturing a culture of teamwork, trust, flexibility and accountability.
You will be experienced at building internal relationships and working collaboratively across teams and departments on joint projects, effectively managing comms plans and delivering on timelines with multiple stakeholders and partners.
You will oversee the budget for the Marketing and Communications function and undertake effective financial management including forecasting, monitoring, reviewing and reporting.
What we are looking for in you A strategic but hands-on leader, with experience of developing & implementing creative, high-impact integrated communications strategies across multiple channels Senior marketing & communications experience, ideally from leading the marketing & communications function of a small/medium-sized charity or a similar role. Experience of managing a team and/or line management, with a focus on developing talent, empowering team members, and fostering a collaborative work environment Experience in developing and implementing B2B marketing strategies that align with business objectives, focusing on engagement, retention and attracting new audiences Track record of crafting impactful pre and post-event campaigns aimed at driving income through paid-for training and events, and conversions towards pipeline goals for partnerships and fundraising Experience in leveraging digital channels for advocacy, brand building, and community engagement, with a proven track record of implementing a strategic approach to brand development, messaging and tone of voice across diverse communication channels Outstanding writer and editor, skilled at creating engaging content with the ability to connect with different target audiences Demonstrated expertise in generating news angles and pitching stories to secure PR and media coverage Experience in building internal relationships and fostering collaboration across teams and departments, with a proven ability to manage communication plans and deliver on timelines involving multiple stakeholders and partners. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and improve digital strategy and campaigns through data analysis including Google Analytics Good understanding of the charity sector. Experience of working within the media & creative industry would be a plus Demonstrated experience in pitching to and marketing collaborations with partners that showcase impact and raise the profile of the partnership The above job description is a guide to the work you may be required to undertake but does not form part of your contract of employment and may change from time to time to reflect changing circumstances.
