Marketing Email Strategy Lead – Insurance         

Salary £30,000 to £35,000

9-month FTC    

FT – 35 hours per week

**Hybrid, monthly visit to London, Kings Cross.

You will be working in Saga’s largest digital marketing team within our insurance community. Here you will work closely with the Direct Marketing Manager on the email channel strategy for acquisition of Motor, Home, Health and Travel insurance policies. You will be involved in an array of exciting campaigns that will touch over 5 million names on our database.  

Working as our Marketing Email Strategy Lead in the direct marketing team you will fully own the end-to-end delivery of our performance email programme. You’ll be leading the campaign planning, execution and optimisation with a data-driven approach and collaborate with the wider marketing team to deliver this growth.

Your creative focus will be to devise the creative concept of the campaign, while having the support of the in-house studio for copy and CRM and data experts for delivery.

This is a contract role to assist the marketing team in delivering our new email first strategy! We have traditionally focussed our database marketing activity on off-line channels. Truly a great opportunity for you to join us and make an instant difference to our customer acquisition.

** Remote working with a hybrid approach, you will be required to visit our Kings Cross Hub once a month during this fixed term contract of 9 months. You will need to be within a reasonable commuting distance to undertake this role.

Role Responsibility

You will have solid experience and strong understanding in email marketing, to develop and refine a data-driven programme that achieves business KPIs. You will bring your skills in collaboration to the table which you will use to create great working relationships across the business from the commercial team right through to content design.

Our Marketing Email Strategy Lead will be fully accountable for the following;

  • Transforming email capability by maximising what we currently do and supporting the implementation of new IT architecture and data capabilities such as automation, next best action and machine learning.
  • Drive creativity throughout all campaigns, work with our design team to create new and/or update existing email marketing communications templates.
  • Optimise the end-to-end customer journey to improve conversion rate, work with the web and conversion rate optimisation team and utilise tools to review the journey and test and learn from improvements.
  • Work with CRM team on segmentation, personalisation and content-based strategies that account for customer behaviours and past performance to make data driven and customer led decisions.
  • Support on growing the marketable database via email and post channels, looking at how we can attract new customers, improve consent rates, re-engage the audience and increase emailable volumes.
  • Work closely with the data and analytics team to analyse performance and purchase funnel metrics. Create and manage a marketing KPI suite that will match marketing actions to customer measures including satisfaction and understanding.
  • Provide marketing insights to the Direct Marketing Manager to support marketing strategy.
  • Align core email activity with wider Services marketing teams to ensure a consistent brand feel across emails, mailings, paid media and onsite content.
  • Identify and change marketing practices that are not effective or value adding.
  • Ensure that all activity is compliant and meets the standards set out in the Marketing Approvals Process.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have already gained experience in an email marketing focussed team during your career. You will also need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;

  • Have a solid working knowledge on email marketing with proven experience of developing, implementing, and analysing email performance as part of an integrated campaign.
  • Understand data management and CRM best practice within multi-channel marketing.
  • Demonstrate strong data and analytical skills with an ability to draw conclusions and recommendations.
  • A good working knowledge of the rules and regulations in data processing and email marketing, including GDPR.
  • Experience of working with Adobe Campaign would be ideal but is not essential.
  • Analytical skills using reporting platforms such as Google/Adobe Analytics.

Desirable;

Previously worked in the insurance industry or the financial services sector within a marketing / B2C team.

Can demonstrate the management of successful email campaigns and value of the ROI.
