Job description

Master Data Team Leader

The Master Data (MD) Team Leader has responsibility for the management of the Master Data in and interfaces to and from the Dynamics 365 system to enable finance processes to run effectively and efficiently. Responsibilities will include maintaining the general ledger structure and accounts, opening and closing project codes, updating customer and vendor data, Security role assignment, Monitor and maintenance of Workflows plus associated groups and consistency reporting across D365 F&O platform.

What you will be doing

  • Manage the Master Data Model for Murphy’s Finance system/information requirements.
  • Control data redundancy (e.g. duplicate vendor accounts) using a variety of system and manual tools and techniques Action requests from the user community for changes to, or creation of Master Data records, following the process, ensuring  validation and approval.
  • Assist in the definition of company data standards for Finance.  Ensure adherence to these standards, dealing with exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
  • Coordinate with the user community to ensure correct and complete data is contained in the requests.
  • Manage and process data files interfacing to and from other systems
  • Coordinate changes to data in other systems that are impacted as a result of standardisation, elimination of duplicates, changes to specifications etc.
  • Pro-actively monitor and analyse all Master Data files to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in relation to the cleanliness of data.
  • Communicate to the user community concerning changes to Master Data.
  • Develop and continually maintain a classification and detailed definition of all Master Data records.
  • Manage the delivery of Master Data processing services and issue resolution of Master Data or interface related issues in a timely manner
  • Opening and closing accounting periods per timetable and confirmation from the SSC management team
  • Set a clear strategic vision for the Master Data Function, which is communicated to all SSC staff, Group Finance and key business customers
  • Benchmark SSC processes, including costs and performance, on a regular basis to identify potential cost reduction and performance improvement opportunities in the MD function
  • Formulate, recommend and when approved implement new processes, procedures or operational improvements to meet operational needs and improve accuracy and efficiency of the MD function 
  • Establish work standards, develop objectives and design/maintain effective work-flows and operating procedures for MD processes
  • Recommend modifications to existing MD policies, processes and operating procedures and ensure they are clearly defined, up-to-date and documented
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, internal controls and the Murphy Finance Manual
  • Deliver to all deadlines, and proactively and promptly inform management of progress and issues 
  • Report on performance against performance/quality standards defined in service level agreements, and KPIs, to Group Finance and key SSC customers.  
  • Manage employees, and monitor activities to ensure accurate and timely processing of MD activity
  • Resolve performance capability and/or development needs that may arise within the MD team,  liaising as appropriate with the Record to Report manager, People function and Head of SSC
  • Ensure the MD team is staffed with the appropriate skills and levels of staff to meet the demands of the business and volumes of transactions
  • Train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development, and outputs
  • Develop career path and opportunities for MD function 
  • Responsible for supporting the Head of Shared Services in the identification, development and delivery of the Finance / technical capability required within the MD fucntion
  • Address performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions
  • Monitor spending for adherence to budget, provide variance analysis as necessary

Who we are looking for

  • Must have strong academic record and experience in Finance     
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Master Data experience in an ERP environment, preferably in a Shared Services environment    Construction Industry knowledge and Knowledge of Joint Ventures
  • Minimum five years of supervisory or management experience required     Previous experience in delivering services to the business
  • In-depth knowledge of Master Data Governance processes    C
  • Championed and lead continuous improvement initiatives in Master Data Management
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 or AX
  • Experience of presenting financial information to non-finance professionals    
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
