Job description

Master Data Senior Specialist

The role of the Master Data Senior Specialist is to provide day to day delivery of Master Data processes for the Finance SSC under the direction of the Master Data Team Leader, including management of Master Data to enable finance processes, including data relating to customers, vendors, projects, products and consistency reporting. In addition, D365 F&O System security assignment / updates and workflow maintenance.
What you will be doing

  • Control data redundancy (example: duplicate records) through system oriented algorithms and manual, visual analysis.
  • Receive requests from the user community for changes to, or creation of Master Data records, and to manage the requests through a formal process of validation and approval.
  • Adhere to company data standards, dealing with exceptions on a case-by-case basis, acting as a first point of escalation for Specialists & Apprentice team members 
  • Coordinate with the user community to ensure correctness and completeness of data contained in requests.
  • Security Role Assignment – this requires an involved understanding of business structures and appropriate permissions by role 
  • Workflow Monitoring and Maintenance to ensure processing where possible in line with FSSC guidelines and ensuring end users are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Support Output Document Change Requests
  • Process data files (in Excel and/or Access) interfacing other non-financial systems
  • Assist in coordinating changes to data in other non-financial systems that are impacted as a result of standardisation, elimination of duplicates, changes to specifications etc.
  • Implement approved and validated requests, in the centrally supported Master Data system
  • Assist in pro-actively monitoring and analysing all Master Data files for continuous improvements on the cleanliness of data.
  • Communicate to the user community changes to Master Data files, such as those mentioned above
  • Opening and closing ledger periods as per the Group Timetable or as instructed by the Head of Group Reporting.
  • Perform all duties within the defined turnaround times and in line with Group timetable
  • Control data redundancy (e.g. elimination of duplicate records)
  • Action requests from the business for changes to, or creation of Master Data records whilst ensuring the process of validation and approval is adhered to
  • Work with the business to ensure correctness and completeness of data contained in requests
  • Manage and process data files in a timely manner and in line with month end timetables
  • Assist with pro-actively monitoring and analysing all Master Data files for continuous improvements in the cleanliness of data
  • Assist with new processes, procedures and operational improvements
  • Deliver excellent customer service in Master Data processes 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards and SLAs
  • Ensure compliance to local statutory regulations 
  • Recognise and communicate potential issues/risks 

Who we are looking for

  • Must have strong academic record and experience in Finance    
  • Must haveprevious exposure  of Master Data experience, preferably in a Shared Services environment delivering to internal customers    
  • Fluency in written and oral English    
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office products     
  • You will need to be a good communicator with the ability to present and explain financial information to all levels of management with a good standard of written presentational skills. 
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines
