Job description

SF Recruitment are working with a leading manufacturing business in Dudley to recruit a Master Production Scheduler. With a diverse customer base across a range of industries, the business is in a period of sustained growth with a secure long term order book. This is a fantastic opportunity for a supply chain professional to put their mark on the Supply chain function of the business & ultimately play the lead role within it.

Job Purpose:  To develop and implement a robust Master Production scheduling system utilising system ERP architecture and able to analysis changes in demand and its impact on production and supply chain requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of strategy and implementation plan to create a planning and scheduling capability to identify long, mid and short-term production requirements (people, process, materials and assets) to support quality execution of the production plan.
  • A key element of the strategy will be developing a cross-over/integration plan from the existing MS Excel based process to MPS planning capability using EFACs MRP.
  • Primary point of contact and interface to ERP provider (EFACs), coordinate all internal requests for changes/issues with external ERP company
  • Develop planning and scheduling tools which translate forecast demand (order book and opportunities) into production requirements.
  • Develop a tool and process to identify and manage production capacity slots to accommodate New Product Development requirements, support delivery to milestones and inform impact to delivery dates where the production demand changes.
  • Create and maintain the Master Production schedule for the company's orderbook.
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast future needs
  • Adjust the master schedule as needed to accommodate changes in customer demand or production constraints
  • Generate regular reports on order status, production progress, and inventory levels
  • Identify potential scheduling problems and work with relevant departments to resolve them
  • Continuously strive to improve the efficiency of the scheduling process
  • Develop tools to understand production performance to inform continuous performance opportunities, production capacity slot planning, articulate impact of customer changes on delivery to milestones and inform future projects on hours required to deliver product components.
  • Early engagement in the product lifecycle to inform the bid and NPI team on production capabilities, work collaboratively to develop solutions to deliver to customer requirements/expectations.
  • Accountable for translating the production demand into materials requirements (Bill of Materials, quantity, schedule) which is provided to the commercial team and informs strategic procurement to enable materials to be made available to support quality execution of the production plan.

Skillset Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of MRP systems
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing planning
  • Understanding of manufacturing activities including people, process, materials and assets
  • Desirable : MSPowerBi reporting
  • Strategic thinker, able to define a vision and the mechanism to deliver the associated objectives.
  • Experience in cultural change and driving continuous improvement
  • Ability to drive for results and delivery focused, with good attention to detail and able to prioritise business and personal tasks.
  • Aptitude to create and drive strategies, creating clarity our of complexity and address route causes.
