Role Definition:

Maintains agreed-upon inventory levels to provide a flow of raw materials and components from the supply chain to the manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the environment of the inventory stock room is in line with requirements for each product.
  • Managing staffing, development, and performance management of materials management workers. Ensuring proper labour relations.
  • Defining and maintaining optimal inventory levels. Performing inventory analysis and making recommendations for stock levels.
  • Coordinating maintenance and support of inventory management software. Degree Requirement Degree or equivalent experience desired

Skill Descriptors

Information Capture: Knowledge of the methods, channels and processes to obtain needed information; ability to identify, capture and document relevant business information in an auditable, organized, understandable and easily retrievable manner.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Follows defined procedures to document all routine information.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
  • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
  • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
  • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.
  • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
  • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyse situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
  • Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
  • Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
  • Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
  • Analyses and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.

Distribution Center Management: Knowledge of distribution processes, issues and considerations; ability to effectively manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory to stores and/or customers.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Works with Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) basic processes and operations.
  • Maintains item and inventory management records.
  • Helps minimize bottlenecks and delays and the resulting impact on operating costs.
  • Uses real-time inventory software, with guidance, to move supplies where needed, when needed.
  • Assists in resolving issues related to physical space management.

Inventory Management : Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.
  • Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.
  • Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.
  • Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.
  • Follows processes to take stock, release inventory or return into processing; resolves discrepancies.

Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
  • Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
  • Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
  • Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
  • Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.

Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices, and tools for controlling the whole processes.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
  • Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities. Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
  • Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.
  • Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
