What you'll be doing.

As our M&E Estates Manager you will be responsible for the strategic and day to day management and maintenance of all Mechanical and Electrical Property Assets across LNER accommodation, including our 11 managed stations. This will include: asbestos management, utilities, telecoms, lifts, lighting, fire safety and HVAC, together with ensuring Statutory Compliance.

 Every day will be different and exciting due to the varied elements of the role:

  • You'll be working with internal and external responsible parties ensuring everyone is adhering to industry standards and best practice.
  • Carrying out and commissioning surveys for planned future renewals.
  • Acting in an advisory capacity for schemes with an M & E specification, reviewing the impact on existing Assets and future maintenance, together with identifying opportunities for efficiencies. 
  • Providing Technical Review for M & E related works applications for Estates Consent within the set SLA's.
  • When needed, you'll take forward M & E related projects/renewals taking the lead for the scheme, preparing specifications for tender, tender reviews, project delivery and close out.
  • You'll prepare and assist with business cases where applicable for Capex funded related schemes.

As the M&E Estates Manager, you'll be the Subject Matter Expert for all building services related activity, including adherence to and review of, as required, LNER's Safety Management System . Knowledge is key so you will be up to date with best practice, industry hot topics & legislation. You will also input to Contract Management duties directly and as part of a wider team for a variety of role-related activity, including Facilities Management.

What you'll need:   

  • A good awareness of design, construction, operation, maintenance and assessment of Mechanical and Electrical systems.
  • The ability to produce technical documentation along with good IT skills.
  • Possess experience of applying engineering procedures in accordance to relevant standards and legislation, enabling the safe delivery of reliability tasks
  • Be qualified to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject matter
  • Although not essential, having relevant Railway industry experience and an understanding of railways standards would be of benefit.
  • Have the ability to work in complex operational environments
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • An eye for detail and good design competencies
  • Contract Management experience
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and on your own
