Our client, a large engineering business based near Skipton, have an immediate requirement to recruit a well versed Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the following

• Design & develop new mechanisms & machine systems to support project requirements
• Adaptation of existing designs where required to support customer specifications
• Supporting downstream departments to execute new/existing designs including identifying opportunities for design improvement/value engineering

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Design & detailing of new components, mechanisms & systems
• Development of new processes including the use of new materials
• Development of existing components/designs
• Issuing of machine parts on SAP in accordance with machine delivery schedules
• Supporting assembly/manufacturing in building/commissioning machines
• Liaising with Sales to provide support for technical bids
• Creating customer documentation and creating/maintaining records to Fives Landis or customer's own standards
• Conduct design reviews, DFMEAs and PFMEAs

Key skills and requirements:

• HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Previous CAD experience preferable, ideally Siemens NX
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel etc.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings
• Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently
• Ability to work with various departments and with people at all levels of the company Strong communication and organisational skills

This is a permanent position where you will be expected to work a 38 hour standard week ( Monday to Friday ).

In return you can expect a salary of 34k - 40k dependant on previous experience.
