White Label is exclusively representing an engineering and manufacturing business in Sheffield that is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer for their in-house automation/machinery department.
My client has a global presence and requires an experienced engineer who can manage design projects from start to commissioning as well as come up with innovative and new ideas for machinery they can use for their manufacturing.
This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer who likes to get hands-on with machinery and has experience fitting/commissioning machinery, automated equipment, or similar.
My client is offering a salary in the region of £40,000 - £45,000 + flexible working, holiday allowance, pension, and other benefits.
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer
- Design new machine cells for projects around the group.
- Provide solutions to problems that arise as part of new projects.
- Willingness to travel abroad for work potentially (short periods)
- Basic Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- To advise and work on modification to and refurbishments of existing machines and equipment.
- To advise and work on any special-purpose machinery the company may purchase or build.
- To advise the Manager/Supervisor of any problems which arise or are likely to arise.
- To work as a team member within the department
- To give instructions to assist suitable personnel to enable them to safely complete simple fitting work.
- Ability to identify hazards.
- To commit to Continuous Professional Development
- All COSHH regs must be adhered to when working with hazardous products.
Experience required of the Mechanical Design Engineer
- 10 years or more experience in mechanical engineering environments (ideally machinery).
- Experience fitting/being hands-on with equipment.
- 3D CAD experience.
