A Mechanical Design Engineer sought for a dynamic and innovative manufacturer based in Chippenham. The company are experiencing ongoing growth and success within their markets and they offer a varied role for the successful candidate.

The broad range of this role covers tasks such as the design and development of new and existing electronic products through to providing advice and support to customers and suppliers as well as other departments.

The Role:

• Analyse customer and company requests for the design and development of new and existing electronic products
• Assist with generating improvement ideas for product design and departmental processes
• Develop prototypes using rapid prototyping techniques and assist with prototype testing
• Attend meetings, customer and supplier visits and liaise with other departments to ensure project targets are met
• Work with QEHS department to ensure product designs comply with relevant specifications
• Cooperate with the patenting of new or improved designs and processes

The Person:

• HNC, Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Mechatronics
• Electrical knowledge would be advantageous
• Experience in the use of CAD, ideally Solidworks
• Experience with product or technology development in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of product design and prototype testing
• Knowledge of simulation practices and product lifecycle is desirable, experience in the use of software such as Ansys, COMSOL is highly advantageous
