Location: Staverton, Gloucestershire
Salary: £65,000pa
Working Hours: Monday to Friday - (Flexi hours available)

Overview:
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong aviation background on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Staverton (Gloucestershire) depot.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Management of the Mechanical Design Engineering team in the production of part, assembly and installation drawings, in compliance with the Design Office Handbook and relevant Certification Basis e.g., CS-27, CS-29 etc.
• Supporting the development and growth of the Mechanical Design Engineering team.
• Supporting the development and evolution of processes and procedures relating to Mechanical Design.
• Where approved by the Head of Airworthiness, be accountable for the checking and compliance verification of design data produced within the Design Organisation.
• Liaison with other Senior Engineering functions and external sub-contractors relating to mechanical/structural design aspects of the delivery.
• Focal point for the production and installation engineers in matters relating to mechanical/structural design.

Skills and Qualifications:

• HNC / HND / Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
• Previous experience working within an Aerospace Design Office as a Structures (Panel 3) check signatory and CVE or be able to evidence significant progress towards this.
• Proven record of creating conceptual structures / Mechanical Designs.
• Knowledge of, and the ability to select, appropriate mechanical/structural techniques and solutions for aerospace applications e.g., material selection, corrosion protection, fuselage hardpoint interfaces, cabin structures.
• Knowledge of current and future aerospace structural manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading people and/or projects in a complex engineering environment
• Experience of the full design life cycle from conception to delivery of design packages.
• Experience compiling / verifying compliance reports.
• Understanding of ergonomics and associated design principles.
• Proficient user of Solid Works CAD (training can be provided).
• Knowledge of CAA / EASA Part 21 Subpart J (DOA) & G (POA) requirements.
