We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Biotechnology company based in the Oxfordshire area. As the Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the design, manufacture, and maintenance of novel automated insect rearing equipment required to deliver important company objectives.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Mechanical Engineer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. You will be involved from the earliest stages of the development process, including requirements definition and concept generation, all the way through to deployment of your design.
2. The Mechanical Engineer will be involved from the earliest stages of the development process, including requirements definition and concept generation, all the way through to deployment of design.
3. You will play an active role in developing experimental set-ups by working closely with the insect teams and working alongside our data science team to deliver the automated systems and approaches required for our latest projects
4. As the Mechanical Engineer, you will develop end to end engineering projects, from brief to prototype and final assemblies. It will also be crucial to prepare and present proof of concepts, proposals and templates.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Mechanical Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. The ideal candidate will be educated to BSc level or demonstrating exceptional technical abilities appropriate for the role.
2. It is crucial to be confident in using CAD (preferably Solidworks) to create working models and materials for the wider team.
3. Experience with automation systems is advantageous, including programming microcontrollers such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino for prototype systems.
