We are recruiting on their behalf for an experienced Mechanical Quality Engineer to join their business on a full time, permanent contract, located in Kidderminster, supporting the bespoke machinery aspects of the business.
This is a Permanent position working Monday – Friday offering a salary up to £45K which is demonstrable with relevant experience.
The ideal candidate will be somebody with a very strong Mechanical Engineering background, who is confident discussing complex mechanical solutions with the design function and wider organisational teams.
You must be able to identify where risks need mitigation and review 3D CAD, review tolerance strategies and calculate tolerance stack ups. You will identify clashes within 3D CAD assemblies, and review the correctness of mechanical calculations as well as research machinery directives to ensure compliance throughout projects

Mechanical Quality Engineer main duties:
- Support the contract review process.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant machinery directives and other legislation.
- Facilitate the generation of machinery risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance to UKCA marking.
- Facilitate the generation of Machinery FMEA.
- Represent the quality function at internal design review meetings.
- Identify risks during the design phase, and plan for mitigation.
- Generate APQP documentation.
- Support the Project Managers with project gateway reviews.
- Generate quality plans for externally provided machine components, and ensure supplier capabilities are considered during vendor selection.
- Conduct contract review exercises with suppliers, ensuring quality plans and requirements are communicated clearly.
- Support the creation of route cards for machine build phases.
- Support the assembly team with quality related build issues.
- Manage supplier non-conformance for projects.
- Manage internal non-conformance and instigate
- Create factory acceptance and installation acceptance test plans.
- Manage the factory acceptance test process.
- Support the creation of deliverable documentation.
Mechanical Quality Engineer desired skills and experience:
- An experienced Project Quality Engineer with a strong mechanical design background.
- Can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals.
- Can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of APQP application.
- Experience within the automation industry is desirable.
- Experience conducting Health & Safety Risk assessments is desirable, but training will be given where required.
An appropriate engineering degree or equivalent is desirable.
