About the Senior Mechanical Engineer Role:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Hughes Safety Showers, you will play a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of our engineering solutions. You will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to various projects, making a tangible impact on our business performance.

Key Performance Indicators for this role will include:

• RFT BOM accuracy driving improvements for engineering solutions 90% to 92%
• RFT BOM accuracy driving improvements for Standard Products 95% to 96%
• Improve sales order lead times through the department from 3.5 days to 2 days
• Support VAVE by helping to grow the overall funnel from 200K to 500K

Key Responsibilities:

• Process sales orders, develop bespoke solutions for customers
• Lead Value Added Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives
• Generate new VAVE ideas to meet global KPIs
• Collaborate on new concept development with the technical manager
• Assist CI team in devising production solutions for efficiency
• Mentor team members and instil manufacturing best practices
• Support Sales Team in centralised drawing repository development
• Aid Production Team in detailed manufacturing drawings
• Create BOMs based on approved drawings, improving KPIs
• Manage BOMs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Review customer feedback on drawings for cost and capability
• Lead on customer project orders, ensuring engineering needs are met
• Ensure project sign-off and adherence to customer specifications
• Assist in creating marketing materials, including assemblies and drawings
• Support global engineering team in knowledge sharing, process efficiency, and best practices

About You:

The ideal candidate holds a degree in a relevant discipline such as BEng Mechanical Engineering and brings a minimum of three years' experience in a senior role within an engineering design team.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
• Organised, detail-oriented, with strong communication skills
• Experienced in process improvement in drafting and CAD data management
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Competent in BOM creation and ERP system operation

• SolidWorks certification (Associate/Professional/Expert)
• 5+ years in high variation, low volume manufacturing
• Experience in petrochemical and hazardous area equipment supply
• Familiarity with Sage ERP and AutoCAD
• Capability in FEA/Structural Analysis
• Leadership experience managing small teams
