Job description

Mechanical technician with heavy industrial experience required for a rail freight depot, focussing upon maintenance of a fleet of locomotives.

Previous rail experience is not essential and training will be provided.

Title:                    Mechanical Technician

Location:            Stockton - on - Tees 

Rate:                    £25.65 per hour (Inside IR35)

Shifts:                  Mixed shifts including days and nights

Qualifications:   Minimum Level 3 qualification

Situation

Our client is looking for reliable and capable Mechanical Technicians who can carry out heavy mechanical maintenance activities and identify and rectify any repairs, and faults that may occur on a fleet of locomotives.

The Candidate

  • You will be comfortable with maintenance procedures of electrical components and understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
  • You will be able to quickly interpret mechanical instructions, follow strict guidelines and work to written specifications set by our client on how they wish for their rail vehicles to be maintained.
  • You will have a complete repairs and maintenance to engines, ensuring rectification work completed correctly. 

Essential Criteria

  • You will need to have a minimum level of NVQ Level 3 to qualify for this role in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • You must be able to demonstrate experience of mechanical maintenance and fault rectification in a heavy industrial environment. A light vehicle maintenance, for example, will also be considered.
  • You must be able to a pass drug & alcohol testing and medical screening prior to start.
