We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our maintenance team covering a number of different educational buildings in Cambridge city centre working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00. Monday to Friday.
Key activities:
Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of Mechanical systems, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the site.
To carry out new mechanical works as required i.e. new works, refurbishment and work associated with the life cycle maintenance programme.
To integrate and communicate effectively with the engineering and fabric maintenance functions, including contractors.
To undertake training and qualify as Authorised or Competent Person for plant/systems as required.
To comply with statutory testing and inspection legislations.
Working 40 hours per week alternating shifts from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday with a requirement to participate in the on call rota.
Skills, qualifications & experience:
Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
Previously have worked in the maintenance or building services industry with PPM experience of working with pumps, pressure systems and emergency lighting
Fault finding experience essential
Essential to have good working knowledge of ACop L8 regulations
Must have fire alarm systems and testing experience and basic knowledge of HVAC systems
Able to work alone or with minimum supervision and equally work well within a team
Able to demonstrate strong communication and client relationship skills
Desirable to hold full clean UK Driving Licence
Must have a good understanding of health and safety best practice; formal training an advantage
