Medical Director (NHS) | VSM | £130,000 - £140,000pa

Castlefield are privileged to be partnering exclusively with an NHS Trust to help source a Medical Director This VSM post will be part of a highly exciting time for the Trust as they embark on a new chapter in their history.

Working as part of the senior leadership team, the Medical Director of Nursing will ensure that service objectives are implemented through nursing and, as a key member of the leadership team, will accept shared accountability for the care groups meeting their strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

The successful candidate will work as part of a triumvirate alongside the Chief Nurse and the Chief Operating Officer, as well as engage with senior Finance, Human Resources, Quality Governance and Estates and Facilities colleagues, for the delivery of high-quality care.

The post-holder will be responsible for the Ensuring the provision of a high quality and safe medical services in the hospital and to patients offering excellent medical advice to support decision making

Summary:

· Ensuring a clinical focus for all service developments and decisions

· Appraisal and revalidation for Doctors

· Providing visible leadership and support for the Care Group clinical leaders

· Ensure that systems and practices are in place that enable medical trainees to meet their education and training needs

· Extensive experience, expertise and understanding of performance and change management, business planning, budget setting and contracting processes, in an acute healthcare setting

· A record of significant achievement in directing and managing the delivery and improvement of services within an organisation of comparable size and complexity

· Evidence of strong analysis and understanding of the business environment and of developing strategies to meet changing organisational needs

Person specification:

· Unblemished and full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice

· Fellowship/Membership of Royal College and/or higher degrees

· Qualified Medical or Dental professional

· Evidence of practice as a consultant in chosen specialty at a high level to allow high level of credibility, to include demonstrable understanding of all aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate education, and delivery of research

· Highly effective leadership skills gained through experience in a Clinical or Divisional Director/Clinical Network/Lead role

· Dynamic personality with the ability to build extensive and trusted stakeholder relationships and wide support networks

· Exceptional communicator, able to create impact and demonstrate proactive customer relationship awareness, with excellent written, verbal and presentational communication skills

· Have the political acumen and an ability to understand the culture, climate, and politics; be attuned to the sensitivities of different stakeholder interests, and health and academic communities, and work sensitively to overcome the differing positions and interests of these
