Are you looking to start your career within a local and friendly medical practice?

We are a local GP practice based in Ayr who pride ourselves on patient care and we are looking to add a likeminded individual to the team.

We are going through a period of growth and looking to expand the reception team as a result. Over the last few years, we have taken on several apprentices to offer them experience within our industry. We are now able to open another opportunity and keen to nurture an apprentice into the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high quality and responsive reception service to all patients ensuring that the reception runs efficiently
  • Registering of new patients
  • Opening mail and lab results, sorting, scanning, date stamping all letters and reports
  • Checking and dealing with tasks received from GPs promptly and accurately
  • Recording home visits
  • Repeat and special request prescriptions
  • Making all appointments both new and return, by telephone or in person
  • Telephoning hospitals / secretaries to make or chase up appointments or reports

Desired qualifications:

4 x national 5 passes or equivalent, including English.

Salary:

£11,700 per annum

Working week:

30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm

90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.

On completion, as well as the valuable work experience you have gained, you get a nationally recognised qualification at SCQF Level 6.
