Our client is a registered charity and independent accommodation association. They champion female empowerment by providing and promoting affordable homes for women and gender-specific support services. Our client has been working to build a more equal society for women, a world where everyone has a safe roof over their head regardless of circumstance, where violence against women is no longer tolerated.

Our client is currently seeking a Men’s Outreach Worker to join them on a part-time basis for a fixed-term contract until March 2025, working 18.75 hours per week.

In this challenging yet fulfilling role, you’ll have the chance to act as a catalyst for positive change, uplifting and advocating for men affected by domestic violence, enabling them to overcome trauma, regain independence and lead better lives.   

 

With the Office of National Statistics reporting a 7.4% rise in reported cases between 2022 and 2023, there has never been greater need for Outreach Workers to join our client and support victims.

The Role

As a Men’s Outreach Worker, you will provide high-quality support to male victims and survivors of domestic abuse who are living in the local community.

Facilitating access to a range of interventions and support measures, you’ll work with local and national services to improve and achieve the best outcomes for men, ensuring compliance with our client’s standards, contract assessments and monitoring framework. 

You will also provide trauma-informed support to a caseload of men and women who are experiencing domestic violence.

 

Additionally, you will:

- Produce individual support plans

- Organise and deliver support sessions

- Provide effective advice and advocacy services

- Support the training and development of new staff and volunteers

- Ensure that accurate and up to date records are maintained

 

About You

To be considered as a Men’s Outreach Worker, you will need:

- Experience of working with vulnerable male adults from diverse backgrounds

- Experience of supporting male survivors of DVA

- Experience of undertaking individual assessments, including risk assessments and developing support plans

- Experience of working collaboratively with external agencies

- Experience and an understanding of the risk associated with lone working

- Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation Children’s Act, Community Care Act, Domestic Violence Legislation, Housing Act and MARAC protocol

- Knowledge of the impact that DVA has upon service users and their children

- Working knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits, safeguarding children and adults, child protection, social and voluntary services approaches/involvement

- Strong crisis management skills

- To be educated to NVQ III, A level standard or equivalent
