About the Service/Department
Keswick Road is a delightful Victorian house set in a Conservation area of Putney. It is a mixed dwelling comprised of seven bedsits, each with their own kitchen and shower room. On entry there is a large hallway leading to the communal kitchen, staff office, laundry room and lounge that leads out into the communal garden to rear of the property.
Keswick Road is a low supported accommodation, staffed Monday-Saturday 9-5, and there staff are at hand to support residents with appointments, writing letters or arranging meetings with care co-ordinators or housing issues. Keswick Road is ideally situated between Upper Richmond Road and West Hill and is close to local shops and amenities. It has excellent transport links to Putney High St, Roehampton, Barnes and Wandsworth. The Nearest Underground is East Putney Station and Putney Station.
About the role
- Clearly articulate the aims and objectives, Pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in and co-produce their support?.
- Empower service users to engage effectively in their liaisons with professionals within the community such as community Mental Health teams, social work teams, housing providers, health professionals, Job Centre Plus etc.?
- Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met. ?
- Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirations and to encourage service users to access these opportunities. ?
- Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures?.
- Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise. ?
- Assist the manager to manage health and safety, repairs and maintenance of the premises. ?
- Collect rents and service charges, and manage arrears proactively by following policy, protocol and procedure to support residents to maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills by paying service charges & rent.?
- Provide support the Team Manager and Senior Recovery Worker to manage voids across the service.?
- Empower service users to develop independent living skills as part of a planned move on process.?
- Assist the Team Manager and Senior Recovery Worker to plan, negotiate and manage budgets and to make best use of property, equipment and information technology.?
About you
- Knowledge of issues affecting those individuals with a range of Mental Health conditions including crisis management, how to communicate effectively with these individuals and how to support them with dignity and respect.?
- Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation ie Care Program Approach (CPA) processes.?
- Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches.?
- Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to oversee induction of new peer staff and volunteers.?
- Ability to work with statutory services ie NHS at the front line?.
- Awareness of health and safety issues.?
- Ability to work Monday to Sunday 9.00am -5.00pm including working bank holidays.?
- Good IT skills that including a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Outlook and the internet.?
- Good literacy and numeracy skills, able to produce clear written correspondence in hard copy or email.?
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.?
- Demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have experienced Mental Health and/or dual diagnosis issues.
